I believe that the key to a fulfilled life is to follow your passions and I feel fortunate to have been able to do just that. I am a clinical psychologist by education and have worked to serve the more severely impaired population. As an entrepreneur intrigued by fashion, I built a successful couture apparel business at 19 years of age. I was honored with the Best Designer Award presented by the late Queen of Jaipur, Maharani Gayatri Devi and granted the privilege to design a collection especially for the Maharani. My training in classical dance landed me the lead role in the nationally televised series, Geet Govind in India. Giving back to a cause that is near and dear to my heart, I founded Sahyog, a school for special needs children. Today, in addition to being a partner at Love Rent Return, I have my own fashion label, handle marketing of products for the Home Shopping Network and am the President of the India Heritage Center, a non-profit organization whose mission is to collect, highlight and preserve the stories of Indian immigrants to the United States.

Style for me is intertwining glamour with comfort and practicality. Raised in Aamchi Mumbai, inside and out, I am a Bombay girl with a solid anchor in both the hospitality and Bollywood industries. A mom, wife, foodie and entrepreneur with successful businesses, what drives me most is passion in what I do! Passion is always rewarded by customer satisfaction, raving reviews and awards (awarded the recognition of Best Wedding Planner by Wedding Wire for 4 consecutive years). As one of the founders of Kulture Kool, LLC some years ago, my thought was that while we embrace the way of life in our new country, it is extremely important to retain and celebrate Indian culture and traditions. Weddings and events in the US therefore became my next step. With a degree from the prestigious Institute of Hotel Management, Mumbai and serving on the Pre-Opening teams for The Regent, Mumbai and The JW Marriott Hotel, Mumbai and events such as Hrithik Roshan & Suzanne Khan’s first anniversary party with Bollywood’s A-listers in attendance, all certainly helped. I am in love with love…it motivates me to plan weddings and related events to make that special day magical for my clients. Each union is a celebration of two people and I personalize the events to reflect what is most important to each of them. The first look for the bride and groom lured me to fashion. The ensemble on the special day plays a significant part in the story and I would like to enable the couple to tell their story by making high fashion more affordable.

LAVINA DATWANI

Born in Calcutta, India and raised by large in richly diverse New York, I have always enjoyed celebrating Indian festivals, traditions and attending glammed out weddings and love to dress the part. But with a packed social calendar, I have often borrowed and lent ethnic clothing so my friends and I can be seen in something new. Not only did I feel glamourous but also felt great to be able to make use of a pricey outfit again. Now I expand this circle of friends to include you. As a pharmacist, mother and avid supporter of non-profit organizations, my shopping time is limited and I would prefer to splurge on concert tickets or memorable vacation instead. This venture allows everyone to look chic and do something good for the world we live in at the same time.
